Workshop on Colonial Societies

Do you have ancestors who came to America before July 4, 1776? Did they help settle or organize a colony, or serve in a war before the American Revolution? Nebraska has several lineage societies dedicated to honoring ancestors who played a role in the American colonies before the Revolutionary War.

This workshop is sponsored by and will feature representatives from the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of American Colonists, Daughters of Colonial Wars, and the National Society United States Daughters of 1812.

This is an in-person event only.

The day begins with a 45-minute presentation covering research strategies, helpful websites, DNA tools, and tips for documenting your colonial ancestry. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop and a flash drive.

Representatives will also be available to answer questions about these organizations as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Mayflower Society, Jamestowne Society, Huguenot societies, and other colonial lineage societies.
