Germanic Interest Group

The LLCGS Germanic Interest Group meets at 7 p.m. on the 1st Tuesday in February, April, June, August, October and December via Zoom. We share information and ideas for learning about our Teutonic ancestors and their lives in Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Czech Republic, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. We also include former German Empire territories such as Alsace-Lorraine now in France; Schleswig in present-day Denmark; East and West Prussia, Pommerania, Silesia, all now in Poland; as well as other areas and countries.

Our group shares ideas and interests in family history, genealogy, European history and languages, and settlements in Nebraska and the U.S., among many topics. We also offer suggestions on reading material, research and travel tips, guest speakers, workshops and field trips, and information on Germanic-related websites.

This is an open, receptive and sharing group. Bring your experiences, questions and ideas, and learn with us!

Members have experience ranging from novice to professional, so you won't be intimidated, and if you have ancestors from these or other lands you will learn a lot.

Check the LLCGS Event Calendar for upcoming dates and times.
